Below is a photo slideshow featuring my student hero, Octavia Scott, a junior biology major from Winthrop University.
Octavia works frequently with Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization with chapters all over the world.
Winthrop University's chapter of Habitat builds home for families in need in York County and in the Charlotte, N.C. area.
In the video below, Octavia and other students are seen building a home in Charlotte from the ground up. My slideshow features the song "Hands" by Jewel because Winthrop's Habitat group has adopted the slogan, "Alone my hands are just my own but together we can build a home."
